How do I care for my silk?
You can dry-clean your scarf, or clean it at home: wash your piece gently by hand in lukewarm or cold water with a mild soap or shampoo. Don't be alarmed if it bleeds a little; that's normal and doesn't mean it will lose color. Especially with intense or darker colors I often overdye the piece, so it may take several washes for the excess dye to rinse out; this won't affect the painting itself. Rinse well in clear, cold water and gently squeeze out the excess. Iron right away on the silk setting (two dots / medium); if your piece has metallic details, iron with the metallic side face down. With care, your piece should bring you joy for years to come. Every piece is packaged with care and insured for its full value.
How do the paintings arrive?
Mounted on canvas and ready to hang. No framing required. Each is professionally packed and insured.I want you to love your piece.
Is each piece really one of a kind?
Yes. Every scarf and painting is an original, painted by hand. Each piece is signed by me, and wall works include a signed certificate of authenticity along with the story behind the piece.
Fine art reproductions are signed and numbered, clearly marked in the listing and are limited-edition.
Tell me about the music.
Each wall piece, and select signature scarves, comes with an original viola composition I write and record for that work. After purchase, you receive a private recording within about four weeks, via a link and QR code on a numbered card. More on The Music page.
Do you take commissions?
I do, for both paintings and wearable pieces. Share your space, palette, and timeline and I'll tell you if we're a fit. Every commission begins with a 30 minute consult to see if we are a good fit. Once you provide a non-refundable 50% deposit, I send a sketch of the planned piece for your approval before painting begins. Two rounds of revisions on the final piece are included to reach your approval; any further changes are billed hourly. Timelines depend on size and complexity and range from one to two weeks to several months. Because the silk medium responds to humidity, temperature, and other factors beyond anyone's full control, a measure of beautiful unpredictability is part of every piece. With my current studio schedule, I take only six commissions a year.
