The Music

Every painting has a voice.

For each wall piece, and for select signature scarves, I compose and record an original piece of music on viola, written for that work alone. It is not a soundtrack chosen to match a mood. It is the sound of one specific painting, made once.

I've been playing and composing on my viola since I was nine. For all my classical training through college and beyond, my favorite moments were never the serious practice: they were the melodies I'd improvise to warm my fingers, and the songs that woke me in the middle of the night and sent me scrambling to capture them before they slipped away. In medical school I would stand on my balcony above the Negev desert at sunset and pour my heart out in melody across the dunes.

My viola has traveled with me ever since, improvising in streets, buildings, and homes, joining orchestras and chamber groups, and gathering sounds from other musicians along the way. I've been asked to play at my own medical school graduation, and I've performed professionally as far as Japan.

One day still guides me: I was hired to play a bed-and-breakfast open house, eight hours, alone. To fill the time I composed a different melody for each person who walked through the room, trying to speak to each heart as it passed. That is exactly what I now do for each painting.

For the past seventeen years, silk painting and motherhood took the lead. Now I'm returning to the music, so each piece can carry its full story, in color and in sound, for the collector who receives it.

When you acquire a piece, I compose its music with the finished work in front of me. When your painting ships, you receive a private recording, delivered by a link and QR code on a numbered card that stays with your art. It is yours alone; no one else's piece will sound the same. Only small excerpts will be used to give a sense of the whole.
